Curtis Josef: The answer is simply: as many as needed.You must reference your work when you use information from a book even if it is not a direct word for word quotation (for example " so many people died during WWII") and, obviously, when you quote directly from a book.You need to use your common sense too: no need to reference a well known fact such as "WWII started in 1939" but you will have to do so when writing about more obscure or dubious statements (ie: "The Holocaust never took place").Remember that you will never get penalised for over-referencing your essay but you will if you do not do it enough.With time, you will know when you will have to it and when you won't.If in doubt, ask the lecturer/teacher about it.Wishing you all the best with your essay....Show more
Barton Sease: in case you like a miles better grade, i might say which you are able to use extra references, it is going to coach which you have putted extra ! attempt into the essay, yet needless to say it relies upon on the subject count number of the essay.
