Why aren't computers made in their own unque way anymore?

Ty Kirton: Its what people use and is what is most used by developers and consumers, those 3 have turned out to be the best and is what programmers use to develop their coding.

Dick Maisenbacher: You're talking mainly Operating Systems to choose from. The simple answers is these OS's won. Everything from the past was built off of and made into was is now today, either directly or indirectly. There are still many flavors of the computer to choose from, whether it be your phone, laptop, tablet, netbook, all-in-one, thin clients, to the actual desktop, and so on. Windows is usually! for the everyday user/gamer, Linux is more geared toward servers and big Businesses running huge data centers and websites, while MAC is for the person who thinks they're rebelling against M$ by not buying their "Inferior" products (kidding, MAC is generally used more in the film industry and people who work with video and picture editing). You have Windows phone, you have Apple's iOS and you have the Linux application of Android by Google. The sky is the limit these days as long as you're confined by one of the big three (although if you want freedom then go to linux). The great thing about all this is that technology becomes standard, like USB and HDMI and PCI and so on. In the old days, each brand had their own hardware/software, so it was pick your poison and hope the tech you chose would have what you wanted down the line.
